It happens in the month when lord Vishnu goes for sleep. With this Ekadashi starts the four months when devas take up rest and are in sleep mode. Hence its name is Hari Shayani Ekadashi.

 

 

Hariprabodhini Ekadashi

After four months when Lord Vishnu wakes from sleep, this Ekadashi is celebrated and called Hariprobodhini Ekadashi. This day is considered auspicious for marriage and other auspicious functions.
